🛠 Hello Real World For 1000 Days

Let’s work on it…

So, here I am: 44 years old, dad of 3 and pretty unsatisfied with my personal development over the last years. Why? Tbh, I’m pretty comfortable. I earn a decent outcome which makes it easy to pay my bills.

Since I guess about 6-7 years I’m trying to „find something beside“ my mainjob to work on….something I have passion for. But evertime I think I found sth, I lose track and get back into my cozy, warm and nice comfortable „corporate carrer & family life“.

Why am I starting this right here?

Pretty easy to answer: To keep myself accountable. I tried quite a lot of things, but everytime it turns out, that there is no one to help – also there are several people around me being very supportive. But in the end they are not paying my bills and don’t kick my ass, when I’m getting off track.

Today’s the 30th of May 2025. And since years I follow Andy Frisella in his podcast „Real AF“. Back in 2020 he talked about the concept of „1000 days“. The idea behind it is your current life, which is the outcome of your decisions over the last 1000 days.

It’s not about the ice cream or pizza you ate yesterday – it is on a bigger scale. A pizza in 1000 days won’t have any influence. But every 10 days a pizza will have an influence. You know what I’m trying to say?

Looking forward day by day

I am a big fan of planning and organizing. I will probably organize everythign around me and I will also create the perfect plan for myself. BUT I’ve never reached a streak longer than 10 days.

1000 days are about 2,7 years. That’s quite a long time to achieve something.

On his website Andy says on a blogpost called „How to achieve long-term success„:

The life you have right now is a reflection of the actions you’ve taken and the habits you’ve had over the last 1000 days of your life.

Looking at my life right now doesn’t make me proud. I’m a bit overweight, I’m massively off track looking at my goal to become self-employed and my finances aren’t bad, but not even the average for my age-group. So I’d rate them as bad in a sense of „not where I am supposed to be“.

Short Life Audit 05/2025

Let’s make a short life audit about my starting point

Health

I am 184 cm high, weighing 91,6 kg this morning, which is a body mass index of about 27,1. Even for my age-group this is called „overweight“.

Looking at my body there is some potential. I’m a quite passionate trailrunner, but I’m nothing „special“ in terms of women are looking intentional at me.

Creating a massively huge goal: I will become a healthy and resilient machine. My goal is to have a visible sixpack, run above 550 itra points on 50+ milers and be a role model for my kids in terms of fitness & health.

Finances

I’ll turn 45 this year, so I want to find the right numbers in the next age group. Our average wealth in Germany for 45-49 years-old people is at 105.000 EUR. The 90% percentile is at a number of 519.000 EUR.

My goal: In 2050 I’ll turn 50 and until then I want to own a cash account of at least 500.000 EUR

I’m not starting from zero, but ways below the 105.000 EUR. So first of all my goal is to reach the 50-percentile for the age-group oif 45-49.

Personal Development

Well, probably the most different one for me. I’m pretty good in planning, so I’m really aware of my longterm goals. BUT I’m not working on them constantly.

Looking back over the last maybe 5 years it feels like I’m stuck in my corporate carrer and also without any gain in my sidebiz. I should probably rate this one here as: I might know where to go, but i’m pretty bad in „going“ and getting on track.

It’s probably a zero on a scale.

My goals: Follow my goals with the intent to hit them, not only to have them. First of all my goal is to finish the initial phase of #75HARD this year (30.05. to 13.08).

Carrer

Looking at my carrer and my status, I would rate them as a 5 out 10. It is nothing special from my pov, but it pays my bills. And as I’m not aiming for the next higher grade in my company, but for my self-employment, I would cut it out and stay stable on the current level.

And this means to say NO everytime somebody is in my door with a new and urgent project. I need to understand that I can’t win on every side, so this side is probably the one without any huge improvement.

Let’s say: I am confident and not interested in a larger carrer!

Ready to go?

Probably not, but let’s do it anyway
